Every day, every Australian, physically active

Previous Campaigns

train station photoPhysical Activity Australia, as Kinect Australia (our former name), was involved in the implementation of the following campaigns:

Active West: Active Transport

With our support, Victoria University was successful in securing funding for this major active transport project in Melbourne’s West.  The Department of Transport supported Victoria University to conduct initial research on student and community travel behaviours in Footscray and to examine infrastructure barriers to active travel.  Later stages of the project included infrastructure change and implementation of a TravelSmart Campaign.

Go for your life

We managed the ‘Go for your life’ (GFYL) Call Centre which acted as a central information and referral point for the general public to gain tailored information relating to active living, healthy eating and community involvement as part of the Victorian State Government’s ‘Go for your life’ campaign.

Healthy Active

We worked with Andrology Australia (Monash University) to develop a worksite-based physical activity and health program within two local governments, funded by the Australian Department of Health and Ageing. The aim of the program was to assist employees to become more physically active and to better understand the links between physical activity and health. Read more about Healthy Active.

Lifescripts

The electronic conversion of the national Lifescripts resources and tools was completed in conjunction with Pen computer Systems.  Completion of the project means that General Practitioners around the country can access and operate the Lifescripts program through their desktop computers in the future.  Funding for the project was provided by the Australia Government Department of health and Ageing. Read more about Lifescripts.

Local Government Physical Activity Network

VicHealth maintained funding support for Kinect to continue to build the Local Government Physical Activity Network (LGPAN).  The LGPAN built links and provided support for local councils and related community based health organisations in planning for physical activity in an integrated, evidence-based manner.

Men’s Health

In partnership with Andrology Australia, Kinect was successful in securing funding from the Department of health and Ageing to develop a men’s health initiative.  This project aimed to test the impact of focusing on men’s sexual and reproductive health as a trigger for participation in physical activity.

Walk Bendigo

We supported the City of Bendigo in the development of a shared space project in the city centre.

WalkSmart/CycleSmart

We worked with the Victorian Department of Transport’s TravelSmart initiative to reduce dependence on cars and promote sustainable alternatives such as walking, cycling and the use of public transport. Read more about WalkSmart/CycleSmart.
